We understand emergencies can happen, and it’s scary when our pets are unexpectedly ill. Upon calling, we can accept same-day appointments at our doctors’ discretion based on our team’s availability. When urgent or emergency situations arise, our team is here to provide prompt, compassionate care or recommendations when your pet needs it most. We quickly assess each patient’s condition, stabilize critical concerns, and develop an effective treatment plan tailored to their needs. Please call us immediately during a veterinary emergency during our regular business hours.
Veterinary emergencies include but are not limited to:
- Eyes
- Labored and/or distressed breathing, can include coughing or a purple tongue
- Hives, facial swelling
- Pale gums
- Unable to move or get up
- Sudden collapse
- Dog/cat fight, lacerations
- Neurological issues: dragging read legs, sudden paralysis or rear legs
- Fractured limb, completely non-weight-bearing
- Cannot urinate
- Any intact female acting ill
- Any diabetic or Addisonian patient acting ill
- Profuse vomiting and/or diarrhea with lethargy
- Toxin ingestion
- Active seizures, seizures lasting for longer than 5 minutes, or seizures occurring back-to-back
What if Egret Bay Veterinary Hospital is Closed?
Sometimes, actually most of the time, veterinary emergencies happen in the middle of the night when your primary care veterinarian is closed. Thankfully, the League City and Webster area have multiple veterinary emergency and urgent care facilities. If we’re not open or not available, please contact them immediately and follow their instructions. Let them know we’re your primary veterinarian, so they can send us updates, and we can continue care as needed.
